More about Jacob
Nature, Fitness, Art, Music, and beyond...
If you're reading this, I appreciate your curiosity in getting to know me more. Simply put, beyond learning, I love nature, sunshine, music, art, and movement. Truthfully, I appreciate all forms of fitness and play be it meditative and restorative, aggressive and high intensity, or social and wholesome. Aside from being physically active, when not thinking about the world's problems or trying to write about these problems, you can find me building music playlists, identifying song samples, or taking pictures of the sunset (often times in tandem). Additionally, I enjoy writing and performing poetry. I often write of love and romance, faith, and – naturally – the world's problems. I appreciate the art of public speaking; Confidently, yet humbly presenting; Sharing in a candid, entertaining, and digestible way. These are essential to my academic & professional approach.
Core to my identity as a person is enjoying oneself. I am the first one to the dance floor, and the first to hype somebody else up, too. I love comedy and humor and have even TA'd a leadership and improv course. Further, my many varied interests also include learning and mixing new cocktails for my friends to try. At the end of the day, I believe life is better experienced together; hence my research interest in the broader DEI space. Indeed, where we are better able to understand one another, particularly why we think and behave the way we do – and how our diverse backgrounds and experiences lead to these unique viewpoints – exists a fruitful environment for us to not only produce better work, but better relationships, at work and beyond. Fostering such environments is my goal not only in the work I do but in how I live my life.
